Our customer reached out to me with an interesting request; they had a 3D rendering that was done by another individual, which included multiple natural materials and xeric plants, with interesting shapes and forms. The challenge was to make the rendering come to life with obtainable materials. After all, renderings are just pretty pictures.
I studied the rendering and came up with a suitable, tangible landscape design for every shape and form that was presented in the rendering. The result features a very low maintenance space with diverse topdressing materials that provide contrast and interest to one another.
Additionally, we constructed rock slab steps leading into the area, positioned within a retaining wall anchored by large Cresta Red boulders.
This project was an exciting opportunity to explore the limits of our capabilities.
